You need the NCBI taxonomy database: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/Taxonomy/

Subject: [Bioperl-l] Organism Classification
Hi All,
I am writing a script and in one of its part i have to classify
organism into eukaryotic or prokaryotic.
I already have a list of organism, is there any indexed file or table in
ncbi which i can use?
or is there any other way?
I would really appreciate if anyone can help me out.
Thanks
Shalabh
