BioPerl has tight bindings for sequences, features, annotation, and
ontology terms to BioSQL. BioSQL does support MySQL.
There is a presentation given to BOSC 6 years ago, but the content is
still pretty much valid (http://dx.doi.org/10.1038/npre.2007.1233.1).
There is additional documentation in BioSQL (look at the doc/
directory). However, there isn't a tutorial for BioPerl (yet).
