Dear friends;
I've just obtained my double majors in computer science and human biology
and am currently working in a hospital as a bioinformatist. In one of my
computer science courses at U of T, two of our professors performed a
research on us and taught half the class Perl and the other half Python. At
the end of the term they announced that whatever code students in Perl
section wrote in, say, 10 lines, the ones in Python section could write in
4,5 lines and they said soon Python will take over Perl in different fields.
Saying all these, now in my project I have to find software/algorithms that
help in the detection of transcription factor binding sites(TFBS). I noticed
that there are Perl modules made just for this purpose. I really want to
stay loyal to Python and dont' want to start learning and using Perl. I was
wondering if any of you know if there are any similar modules in Python, or
if it's easy to read Perl line by line and "translate" it to Python and then
continue with that.
Sorry if my explanation was not very clear. Thank you for taking time
reading this.
All the best
Sam Khalouei
