Emboss and EMBL size problem

I suspect the above is a system problem which might be
solved by (e.g.)  limit descriptors 500   on the SGI
Tony Pemberton mentioned.

As far as large file support under linux is concerned
you just need to add --enable-large to the configuration
command.
