For those of you working with Human data...
The latest Ensembl release 0.7.4 was released on Nov 30 and contains the
July 17 data freeze and golden path according to UC Santa Cruz's work.
The Sept 5 and Oct 7 data freezes are well on their way down the analysis
pipeline and should be available before the end of the year (one hopes).
The latest website version is much smoother and had better features for
interacting with the data and annotations.

Subject: Minor upgrade to the 0.7.4 web site
The 0.7.4 web site (july freeze) has had a minor upgrade due
to feedback:
(a) the SNP database is now a dbSNP snapshot, with a more complete
set of SNPs. We wont be fully in sync with dbSNP until we get to
Sept data (the next dataset due to be released)
(b) Interpro links have been trimmed slightly to only show significant
hits to Interpro signatures
(c) The web site links are more aware of when sequences are placed
on the genome assembly (the golden path), meaning, for example, when a
SNP is mapped to two accession numbers which overlap in the assembly, a
distinction is made between the ones which are in the final assembly and
the ones which overlap.
The end result of this is far smoother web site.
We have one final upgrade to this dataset before signing off on it, which
I will post to both ensembl-announce and ensembl-dev. Many thanks for the
feedback and we look forward to improvements on the next data set.
Ewan Birney, on behalf of the Ensembl developers.
