Dear Biopython Dev Team,
My name is Sangwoo Kang from the Republic of Korea. As a student with a
background in law and a keen interest in cognitive science, neuroscience,
and bioinformatics, I have developed a strong interest in Biopython and its
potential in these fields.
I am planning to start a project to translate the Biopython tutorial
documentation into Korean, and I'm reaching out for your feedback and
advice. Understanding the importance of legal compliance, especially in
open-source projects, I want to ensure that this translation fully adheres
to all licensing requirements.
The main objectives of this project are:
To make Biopython more accessible to Korean-speaking bioinformatics
researchers and students.
To expand the Biopython community in Korea and attract more contributors.
To promote open-source culture in the field of bioinformatics.
My current plan for the translation project includes:
Using GitHub for version control and collaborative translation work.
Seeking review from bioinformatics experts to ensure accuracy.
Regularly updating the Korean translation as the original documentation is
updated.
Ensuring strict adherence to the Biopython License Agreement and applying
the same license to the translated version. Given my legal background, I am
committed to ensuring full compliance with all licensing requirements.
Before I begin, I would appreciate it if you could provide guidance on the
following:
Are there any similar projects already in progress?
Do you have any guidelines for translation work?
Would it be possible to add a link to the Korean version on the official
Biopython documentation once completed?
Are there any specific licensing considerations I should be aware of for
this translation project?
I'm particularly keen to ensure that all legal and licensing aspects are
properly addressed, and I would welcome any advice or suggestions you may
have regarding this project.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Please feel free to reach out if
you need any further information. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Best regards,
Sangwoo Kang
