Registration is now open. Deadline to submit an abstract is April 30.
Please register through the ISMB 2002 (www.ismb02.org) website. BOSC
registration is part of the SIG selection.
A keynote speaker has been added. Dr. Michael Eisen will be delivering a
keynote address at BOSC2002 in addition to Drs. Ewan Birney and Winston

BOSC 2002 Announcement and call for abstracts for talks and posters

Announcing the 3rd annual Bioinformatics Open Source Conference, BOSC
2002. BOSC is organised by the Open Bioinformatics Foundation
(http://www.open-bio.org). This year it will be held in Edmonton,
Canada, August 1-2 and includes full talks, lightning talks,
birds-of-a-feather sessions, mini-tutorials, and more. The conference
will cover a range of topics from open source software development to
bioinformatics infrastructure to cutting edge applications of open source
software in the field of bioinformatics.
The conference will feature keynotes by:
Dr. Michael Eisen of LBNL and UC Berkeley,
Dr. Winston Hide of the South African National Bioinformatics Institute,
Dr. Ewan Birney of the European Bioinformatics Institute.
Additionally presenters from a collection of Open Bioinformatics supported
projects including Bioperl, Biopython, BioJava, BioSQL and OBDA, EMBOSS,
BioMoby, Open Source Author's Contract, and others will present summaries
of their projects and practical examples of their tools in action.
Registration will open on April 8th and will be through the ISMB 2002
website (http://www.ismb02.org).
We also encourage anyone working on interesting biological software who
would like to share their progress with the community to submit an
abstract to give a short talk or poster at the conference. If you are
interested in presenting a talk or poster please send your abstract to
bosc@open-bio.org. Please see the schedule below for submission
deadlines. All accepted abstracts will be published online on the
conference website.
You need to provide:
- an abstract (no more than a few paragraphs);
- a URL for the project page, if applicable;
- if it is about your software, information about the open
source license used or your release plans.
Abstracts can be submitted in plain text, HTML, or as an URL.
Proprietary formats (such as Word) will be rejected outright.
