What Dave forgot to mention is Galaxy itself is written in Python :)
Also, although it doesn't (currently) use Biopython internally, some of
the user submitted Galaxy Tools do - and both Brad and I are quite heavy
Galaxy users (looking after local installations at our workplaces) and
have contributed to the project.
