I use Python 2.3 on Windows because I have the MSVC 6.0 compiler all setup for
building python extensions (later versions of Python switched to a later MS
compiler).  I would object to dropping support for Python 2.3 over what seems
to be a minor issue.

As I do have Biopython and local blast up and running on this machine, I will
be able to try and investigate this issue.
