I am a perl novice trying to run perl 5.8.8 on windows xp system.  I have used 'wordpad' to paste tutorial code into an executable file and when I double click the icon for the file a window opens up briefly with output and/or error message but closes too fast for me to read.  Any idea why this might be happening?
