To second Chris's comments:  before committing to trunk, you must run 
the entire test suite, and what's more, all tests should pass.
If you are working on changes that may be disruptive (such as causing 
these kinds of test failures), you must make a branch.
If you need help with something, make a branch, and email the list to 
ask for help with whatever test failures you are seeing.
