[Bioperl-l] using %packages in Makefile.PL

There's lots of ways to do it, but a simple, explicit, easy to follow way:

my %prereq;
while (my ($key, $value) = each %packages) {
   my ($version) = split("/", $value);
   $prereq{$key} = $version;
}

...
PREREQ_PM => \%prereq;
