Yes, good idea.

You definitely should. This is YOUR project, so you decide what to
add/remove. If your ideas are sound and compelling you will have a
better chance in the competition!

You should put in the proposal what you think would be the most
appropriate method to handle the sequences. This will show how well you
understand the task. Whatever you decide will have to be discussed
further when it comes to implementation.
