I'm very sorry -- a lot of the files do seem to be truncated.
The only explanation I can think of is that the machine where
I built the release ran out of disk space during the javadoc
build.  It looks like the javadoc tool may behave rather
unhelpfully in such cases.

I'll rebuild the docs file later today.  In the meantime, very
little has changed since 1.3pre4, so you should be fine reading
those.
