first, as someone who was fortunate enough to have attented
one of the biojava bootcamps, those materials are an
excellent starting point. i can't personally provide any assistance
on the warm-blooded instructor front (i've just LEFT a pleasant
stay in berlin and am afraid i can't come back for awhile:)
but i do have real interest in developing curricular
materials around biojava. my primary use is as part
of emerging bioinformatics courses at UCSD. i
can point you to one 'tutorial' of the sort i'm
developing, designed to connect the biojava.dp package
to the theory in the Durbin book a bit more closely.
i'm afraid that it was developed back at biojava 1.0
tho, and these classes have changed quite considerably
in the interim. so i'm going to be revising to
make these changes, and also to add more on 'compiling'
the HMMs, and hopefully connecting to SVM kernels.
i'm also planning at least a couple others, on
phylogenetic tree analysis and on prefix/suffix trees.
if others are doing similar course materials, please
let me know.
