[Biojava-dev] Hi need some biojava help in finding Orgainism's Common name

Hi -

You will probably need to look up the xref to the taxid which is NCBI's 
taxonomy database which also lists common names. I not sure about 
biojava's support for this although BioSQL has tables that allow you to 
add taxid data to the DB.

Hi everyone,

                 I am looking for a way to get the common name of an 
orgainism  when i retrieve it from Genbank. I can get the species name 
from 
the OS property of the Annotation (Physeter catadon). but  i honestly 
don't 
know about getting the common name (Sperm  whale ).  Thanks in advance for 

anyone helps.
