Birds of a Feather meetings are one of the more popular activities at BOSC, occurring at the end of each days session. These are free-form meetings organized by the attendees themselves to discuss one or a few topics of interest in greater detail. BOF?s have been formed to allow developers and users of individual OBF software to meet each other face-to-face to discuss the project, or to discuss completely new ideas, and even start new software development projects. These meetings offer a unique opportunity for individuals to explore more about the activities of the various Open Source Projects, and, in some cases, even take an active role influencing the future of Open Source Software development. If you would like to create a BOF, just sign up for a wiki account, login, and edit the BOSC 2006 Birds of a Feather page. Sound Revolution Inc, an online music distribution company,is revolutionizing the way digital music is sold. Artists are continually looking for socially beneficial ways to promote their music. Advertising is out as consumers are increasingly skeptical of any advertising and loathe artists seen as "selling out". SRVN solves the problem by having charities promote for them and puts the artist in an altruistic light. Consumers are increasingly turning to the web for digital content. At the same time public support for social causes, both systematic and event driven, like the fight against AIDS in Africa or Global poverty, and the recent outpouring of relief aid for the Hurricane Katrina disaster in New Orleans, are clear markets that consumers will use their dollars to make a difference. Each song that is downloaded from Charitytunes.com, purchaser can donate 10% of each song price to a charitable cause of their choice. SRVN?s unique business model marries business with social meaning and its competitive advantage gives purchasers that "good deed" feeling everyone is after these days. But that?s not all. SRVN has built a state of the art backend system to allow expansion of the music library very quickly. And purchasers can rest assured that transaction security and donor secrecy are among the best in the business. And SRVN is quickly building a world class management team according to recent news releases. So lets do the math: Analysts predict industry revenues at $9 billion. With the management and artists already interested in SRVN, even it only manages to garner a 1% market share (very conservative) that equates to $90 million in revenues. With only 10 million shares outstanding (most of which are restricted), each share would be worth $9 in revenues alone!
